Final design on Agyness Deyn House

29 Aug 2013

Still the same concept before ( Plan ) but i try to make the angle more soft and playful to give more characteristic to the design. Which fit the playful idea I have before (Concept ). Merging the floor space into one give more flexible and changeable interior to Agyness who really like to change a lot.

Super structure lift the floor up to create different to the normal standard house design. Sharp but curve, thick at edge and thin at the middle slap create light punky style.

Holes on the facades will project the shadow onto the floor and give pizza topping like shape and refer to Agyness's memory of her father.

Mini Battleship

19 Aug 2013

Just download the USS New Jersey (BB-62) from Google 3D-warehouse. Without any change and i understand there are problems for sure. For example the guns and bridge of the ship may not be able to print properly.

So what! Just try 1:2500 scale and see what happen.

Roughly 20 mins and job done.

As expected bridge really make the printer mad but it create a dramatic shape which is interesting.

Questions are raise.

1) How to print properly? Change temperature? Speed?

2) If i want to have this dramatic shape, how to control that?

3rd trial 3d print

In the 1st print of this trial was fail but it produce a really thin layer. Which i don't expect the printer can do this.

The objective is to make two prefect triangle without any cut.

1st attempt  just  use the support option and see how it goes.

although the support is hard to remove but it still possible to do so.

As show above I can call as a success, however after i search on the internet there is a rule of thumb that if the object is not have angle larger than 45 degrees it can print easily. So i think adding columns and increase the angle it may possible to have better result.

         —The Independent

“When I started, I was very boyish-punkish. Now I think I've gone a bit lady punk.”
         —Style.com

“Pizza is my favorite food — the thinner the crust, the better. My step-dad works for a company in England that makes pizzas. As a kid we used to invent the flavors; we‘d all sit around and eat the pizza and do a questionnaire afterwards.”

CONCEPT:

2nd trial of 3D print

11 Aug 2013

Fail...
Product with plate

Plate removed
The 2nd trial i just make some column to support the cantilever parts. however i did not notice that just 2mm dia of column is problematic. The plastic can even "stick" onto the machine plate and it start mess everything...

So i just use the makebot software provide's plate and insert at the bottom. It use more material but end up it works.

However to remove the plate is another problem too. Larger the area of the model contact with the plate harder it is to remove...Even worst that you don't want to break the model.......New method need to develop.

1st trial 3D print

10 Aug 2013

And i know i can use 3D printer to write chinese XDD

Something need to be aware, the first layer contact with the plate on the machine may easily get stuck or broken when remove the finish product. Not so sure is this the problem of this type of 3D print or just the material is not "sticky" when just warm up.

Laser cut limit test

Trying to test the limit of the laser cut on the box board and found out some part will burn into ash during cutting.

2nd trail for laser cut

The cut finally go through, thanks Tony the workshop manager helps!
Sort out the cuts pieces by pieces is such a pain
Although it is a wrong calculation, still quite good to see it looks like a skyscraper.

Laser cut (with fun!)

Although the 1st trial of laser cut is nearly cutting through the box board, the material, i can say, not bad for image "print" by laser. the burn mark actually give back the details. It is really fun with laser cut!

Blue Foam Concept

7 Aug 2013

Starting from basic cube (roughly 40 X 40 X40)

Using the foam cutting tool with other adopter could melt the interior of the foam.
The concept is create space in "no space".

Trying 1:200 feels like a building block
Trying 1:100 feels like a house

Try 1:50 it is a big installation

how simplify and remove duplicates in the path?
